Analysis of the match between Uganda and Nigeria
Nigeria are considered strong contenders for the AFCON 2025 title, bringing to Morocco a powerful squad featuring European-based stars like Viktor Osimhen (Galatasaray), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), and Alex Iwobi (Fulham).
With this strength, Nigeria won both of their opening group-stage matches in AFCON 2025, most recently a 3-2 victory over Tunisia, and currently top Group C, having already secured a spot in the Round of 16. They approach the match against Uganda with a relaxed mindset and the aim of taking all three points.
In contrast, Uganda are outclassed. They are on a four-match winless streak, including a 1-3 loss to Tunisia and a 1-1 draw with Tanzania at AFCON 2025. These results leave Uganda at the bottom of Group C and increasingly lacking confidence.
With a squad clearly superior to the rest of their group rivals, Nigeria are expected to comfortably claim three points against Uganda. The only question is the margin of victory. It is possible that Nigeria could finish the match with a win by two or more goals.
